SIDPAC Software

Release History

January 2001:      SIDPAC version 1.0 (beta version) is released to the public. SIDPAC version 1.0 has been distributed to 24 recipients using the NASA software transfer procedure.

September 2002:   SIDPAC version 1.1 is released to the public.  A graphical user interface (GUI) is added, along with demonstration scripts and additional capabilities in the frequency domain.  Additional plotting and reporting programs are added, along with various updates and consolidations of existing programs.  Improved commenting inside the M-files is added.  MEX-file equivalents (written in C) are added for improved execution speed of selected programs.  Software documentation is updated.  A description of SIDPAC version 1.1 is published in: Morelli, E.A., "System IDentification Programs for AirCraft (SIDPAC )," AIAA paper AIAA-2002-4704, AIAA Atmospheric Flight Mechanics Conference , Monterey, California, August 2002 ( PDF).  SIDPAC version 1.1 has been distributed to 118 recipients using the NASA software transfer procedure.

August 2006:        SIDPAC version 2.0 is released to the public.  Extensive software documentation is added in the form of an accompanying AIAA textbook entitled Aircraft System Identification - Theory and Practice, by V. Klein and E. A. Morelli.  MATLAB® scripts that replicate textbook examples are added, along with many other demonstration scripts for the main SIDPAC programs.  Dynamic model files and numerical integration routines are standardized.   Many programs related to experiment design, data analysis, modeling, and results reporting are added or updated.  Capability to use dynamic model files in Simulink® is added.  A nonlinear F-16 simulation in MATLAB® is added. Programs are added and modified so that SIDPAC version 2.0 does not require any MATLAB® toolboxes.  Program headers are standardized so that the MATLAB® help and contents utilities work for SIDPAC version 2.0.  The graphical user interface (GUI) is expanded and improved.  SIDPAC version 2.0 is available only by purchasing the AIAA textbook  shown above.
